Stockholm tar may put them off pecking. It's really pungent and, if the skin is getting sore, then it's very healing too.

Broodies do really well on just wheat - it lasts for ages in their system and when it comes out the other end :shock: it stays very firm. They hardly ever get caught short on the eggs by feeding wheat.

Yes, give them plenty of room if you are mixing bantams with LF. I lost a pekin a couple of years ago when, in the general rush towards me at feeding time, a large marans got overexcited in the melee and she jumped up in the air and landed right on top of a little pekin. Squashed her flat, poor litt...

I would knock it down, clear the space and buy a new shed - you can use cardboard or plastic boxes for nest boxes and a couple of washed branches for perches to save money.
