i had the same problem so i sited mine ontop of weld mesh and it sticks 2 foot out the sides and i cover it with about 3 inches of wood chip nothings ever got in since

hows a larsen trap any different to hanging a couple of corpses ? at least with a larsen trap you can relocate the birds if you really dont want to kill them

ive got a freind who uses a ceramic dog bowl for food and water otherwise they get tipped over, or proper plastic feeders are only a few pounds. i use bedmax shavings which are stolen from my horse i find they compact less than small animal shavings and are easier to remove. is your run covered ? if...
